JOIN THE BBC THREE PLAYGROUND

BBC3 and Latimer are looking for you creative lot to get involved with this exciting collaborative project. M20 collective love this idea and are supporting the project by giving our followers the news. The team at Lorimer got in touch so we could spread the word on how to get involved, its your last chance with 48 HOURS TO GO. So read below to find out more and show them what Manchester have to offer!

It’s time to have fun and #JoinThePlayground.

Are you eager to have your voice heard, ideas seen and the chance to get your content commissioned? Then you need to #JoinThePlayground. The Playground is BBC Three and Latimer’s pioneering creative network, set up to help young creatives, all sorts of talents included, develop their work and put it out for the world to see.

In the Playground you’ll be set weekly live briefs based on content broadcast on BBC Three, to which you should respond with complete creative freedom. Upon receipt of your content, you will get weekly feedback from BBC Three and Latimer.

So, whatever your talent may be, we’re looking for it:

Film
Fashion
Comedy
Music
Tech
Design
Content creation
Writing

and everything in between!

If your application is successful, you will gain unprecedented access to a national youth network of brilliant young minds, have the chance to be mentored by industry professionals, and get your voice heard, all whilst co-creating the future of content for BBC Three.

Vacancy: Engagement Assistant at HOME MCR

Engagement Assistant

Salary: £17,000

HOME MCR are looking for a highly organised administrator and project assistant to work within their Engagement team. This is an exciting and unique opportunity to work across theatre, film and art at Manchester’s largest cultural venue opening Spring 2015.

You will be an efficient administrator and a great people person with a passion for the arts and an extremely organised and self-motivated character. You will have experience in a range of administrative areas and will be able to collate information from across different programme areas clearly and concisely for use in funding reports and other stakeholder documents.

Liaising with various people, from artists and programmers, to young people and community members of all ages will be second nature to you and you will have the communication skills to cater information sharing as appropriate for various people with different learning styles.

This is a core team role, which will play a major part in shaping HOME’s engagement work and will involve working across the programme.

Graphic Designer wanted!

Double D Creative

Position: Graphic Designer
Location: Lymm, North West
Salary: c. £25,000 (dependent on experience)
Contract: Permanent

This is an exciting opportunity for anyone looking for a fresh challenge. The role will involve working on a variety of projects for a great mix of clients from major brands to independents.

You will be expected to tackle advertising, branding and POS briefs as well as reports/brochure work and, anything else that is thrown your way, with well thought-out concepts and an exceptional eye for detail.

As part of a small team you must be a team player, enthusiastic, organised and come with a ‘can do’ approach.

Your daily role will require you to manage your time effectively across a number of projects and deal directly with clients and suppliers so good communication skills are essential.

Outstanding (Mac based) skills in the Adobe Creative Suite; Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign are essential. Knowledge of latest web technologies including HTML5 and CSS3 and an appreciation for UI, UX and general usability would be useful but not a must.

What we’re looking for:

  • Minimum of four years industry experience
  • Experience of dealing directly with clients and suppliers
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to work on a number of projects at any one time
  • Good understanding of the print process
  • Confident, yet personable with good communication skills
  • Ability to operate creatively as well as within client brand guidelines

Call-out: band wanted!

Call out for Musicians:

The graduating visual anthropology masters students from Manchester University are hosting a screening event of their final film and sensory media exhibitions at Victoria Baths the weekend of 17-19th Oct. We are looking for a suitable musician or band to play on our opening night on Friday 17th. This would be background music whilst our guests enter the event, and after the opening speeches to accompany people’s browsing of the exhibition. We are working with a very tight budget – we could offer a modest fee in addition to advertising (logo/website) for you or your band in on our programme and website (to be launched next week). Any chefs out there? Fancy catering for a film and interactive media exhibition at Victoria Baths in October?

 

“Call out for cook/caterer(s):

The graduating visual anthropology masters students from Manchester University are hosting a screening event of their final film and sensory media exhibitions at Victoria Baths the weekend of 17-19th October. We are looking for a budding cook or caterer who would be interested in catering our opening night on Friday 17th. We are hoping for finger food and canapés – a mix of savoury and sweet to feed approx 150.

We are working with a very tight budget – we could cover the cost of the food and a small fee for the labour. Residencies at Whitworth Art Gallery for emerging artists

A perfect opportunity for all those under 25 looking to work with art and the youth community!

The Whitworth Art Gallery is offering two part-time residencies for emerging artists in any discipline to develop their work and create alongside people aged 15-25 on the Whitworth Young Contemporaries project. This is a paid position (£10k-15k pro rata) and you will be developing ideas, enhancing your portfolio, running workshops for young people and gaining nationally accredited training – get applying!

DEADLINE IS TOMORROW (FRIDAY 27 JUNE)

Here’s the job spec:

What you will do:

  • Work collaboratively with young people, artists, gallery staff to develop ideas that inform Whitworth Young Contemporaries.
  • Plan and deliver engaging workshops to young people’s groups that make links to the Whitworth Art Gallery, its collection, building and exhibitions.
  • Offer workshop support at three events throughout the summer.
  • Help develop and facilitate Saturday Arts Club; an arts workshop programme for 15-18 year olds at the new Whitworth Art Gallery.
  • Become trained to deliver Arts Award at bronze and silver level.
  • Use the studio as a space for thinking and making

Who you are:

  • You are an emerging artist from any arts discipline aged 25 or under.
  • You have an interest and ability to engage young people aged 15-25 from all backgrounds.
  • You are committed to collaborative practice, working in partnership with artists and young people across art forms.
  • You are able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.

Fee:

£5,000 for 40 days work July – December 2014 (approx. 2 days per week). Successful applicants will need enhanced DBS status.
